Within this STEAM Reader Activity Book, the students of the kindergarten class at Sunny Street Elementary School are introduced to our readers. They will follow their exploits through to 8th grade, as the students learn by exploring the world around them. The following describes key content areas in the book and is meant as a general summary as is not comprehensive of content.
In kindergarten our readers will follow the class on a trip to the beach to study matter and its different forms. They will learn about energy and see how energy can be used to melt ice cubes and how magnetic energy can be harnessed to discover buried treasure. On a night hike they will follow the class as they discover the universe and the extraordinary beauty of the Milky Way and learn about weather patterns and seasons in their world. Our readers will then learn about living things and their needs as the class takes on the responsibility and care of class pets over a Thanksgiving holiday. Finally, our readers will learn about plants including their lifecycles, as the class grows plants from seeds and discovers a mystery plant growing outside the class door.
